Mike and I are considering moving to be closer to Villanova, and almost every day at lunch I hop online to look for new listings. Today I found the neatest tool, Walk Score.com. It is an interactive map that rates a given address according to the walkable neighborhood ammenities such as parks, grocery stores, libraries, restaurants, [...]

Constant Comment, How I love you. Your aromatic, orange-peel-and-cinnamon-spice goodness is the flavor of childhood and mother-comfort to me.
Isn’t it true that certain places, smells, and foods, because of their strong sensory associations, transcend themselves and bring forth memory and emotion? My favorite tea is like that. My mother always put several bags of Bigelow [...]

I found this fun meme on Joel’s blog.

Got a “no” from Princeton. Not a terrible surprise, really - they did not have many people doing what I am interested in. My statement of purpose did try to connect my research interests with those of the department, but the connection was slight, and I applied somewhat on a whim. Too, a good friend of [...]

I’m pleased to announce that as of the end of last week, I am officially finished with all my graduate school applications. When one includes the time spent last summer researching where to apply and the time spent in the Fall doing campus visits, being “done” culminates a process that has been going on for over six [...]

Well, our Christmas cards will arrive on a day other than the first day of Christmas this year. Apologies for the belated greetings. We enjoyed a breakfast of eggs and ebleskivers this morning, opened presents and have been lounging in our jammies ever since. I hope everyone is having a truly delightful Christmas [...]

My applications to Chicago, Princeton, Yale, Toronto, and Fordham are complete and in the mail (or, since much of them were submitted online, in cyberspace). Five more to go, but since they are not due till February, I will deal with them in January.
Meanwhile, Sarah is here for Christmas, and we are so excited to have her!
